The Empowered Birth Series is a 5 week live and interactive group birth education course designed for couples to explore their birth options and goals in a fun, engaging and non-biased environment.
What Is A Birth Education Course?
There is a lot of noise when it comes to the birth world.

Do you have a birth plan? Should you have a doula?
So. Many. Questions.
This course, created by Dawn Herring, combines the basics of childbirth along with some additional mindset and communication tools to help identify and remove fears and to help you feel powerful in talking with your providers.
We want you to feel empowered to advocate for yourself in however, wherever, whatever bringing life into the world means to you and your family.

This Birth Education Course Will Help You Feel Empowered because…
Dawn takes you on a journey of understanding how birth works, how you can support yourself during it, and the opportunity to create a new relationship to birth from within YOU. You’ll learn to quiet the outside (and inside) noise and tap into your power and intuition. Your partner will also understand the importance of their role and learn some practical and hands on tips and tricks for supporting you.
You’ll also learn how to navigate the medical model of care with power, how to avoid unnecessary interventions and how to advocate for yourself and your birth goals. You’ll learn that you can trust yourself and the process as well as how to make powerful choices for you and your family should things shift from your original preferences. You’ll have the experience of knowing that you can own your birth experience, vs. feeling like it happened “to” you.

Sooo I’m going to let you in on a little secret here. I’m a recovering control freak. Yep, I said it. Total Type A, with a hefty dose of perfectionist in there too. So, when I got pregnant and was faced with all of the unknowns, wonderings, questions, worries, doubts, etc you can imagine that my control freak was wanting to run.the.show.
Then, enter the birth education classes that my husband and I took. As I learned more about the birth process, got answers to my questions, understood the power with which my body could birth my babe, I started to feel much more at ease and actually had some room and space to see what was possible for my birth experience. I felt calmer, more grounded and knew what I could “actually” be in control of i.e. how to respond to what was happening and how to work with my body and labor. I wanted to step out of the fear, and into my power, and my childbirth classes were a huge part of that.
And I remember thinking during our class, that I wanted every single woman to have that same experience. To feel confident in herself, no matter what her goals were for birth. I knew how much fear there was out there, and had heard a lot of tough birth stories. I knew then and there that I would eventually teach birth education classes.
My heart is in teaching women and their partners about what’s possible in birth, and stepping outside the cultural conversations and programming that’s out there about it. I’m not telling you that it isn’t challenging or intense at times, but I’m here to tell you that you can create a whole new relationship to childbirth, to your power in it, and what your birth experience can look like. What YOUR empowered birth experience can look like.
Through my trainings, my own journeys in childbirth, personal development and working with other women as a coach and doula, I’ve adapted this course to include a hefty dose of laughter and love, evidence-based information, tried and true doula tips and tricks, a dash of relationship work (because I’m a libra and that’s just who I am) practical hands on exercises, mindset practices, and soooo much love and encouragement that my clients know their options, rights and their power in and out of the birth space.
I’ve been empowering, educating, and coaching through doula support and child birth education courses to families in the Tampa Bay area for over 4 years now. I’ve been helping families prepare for their births in a guided, meaningful, intentional and supportive way that helps them discover and honor their unique goals and desires. I’m not here to tell you what to do or where to give birth.
